For me, nature is more than just a backdrop; it is a sanctuary, a source of inspiration, and a testament to the beauty and resilience of life. Through my photography, I seek to bridge the gap between humanity and the natural world, evoking a sense of awe, inspiration, and profound connection in those who view my work. My goal is to foster a greater sense of stewardship for our planet, encouraging others to cherish and protect the environment as deeply as I do.
Each photograph is a tribute to the intricate details and fleeting moments that define our world. I believe that every element, no matter how small, holds significance and contributes to the larger tapestry of life. My background in art history and anthropology informs this perspective, guiding me to honor and preserve the rich tapestry of cultures and histories that have shaped our present and will influence our future.
With degrees in art history and anthropology, I have dedicated my life to exploring the intersections of culture, art, and nature. My journey has taken me from the depths of traditional photographic darkrooms to the innovative realms of digital darkrooms, always with a focus on capturing and preserving the essence of the world around us.
I have honed my skills in professional photo labs, mastered historical photographic processes, and engaged in the meticulous work of photographic restoration. My experience includes custom framing for professional artists, cataloging art and archaeological finds, and working on copy work—all of which underscore my commitment to detail and preservation.
In addition to my photographic endeavors, I have received formal training in and worked extensively in cultural resource management (both art and artifact) and catalogued photographic collections, driven by a belief in the importance of preserving all forms of art—visual, audio, and written. To me, these are not just artifacts; they are vital pieces of our collective heritage, offering invaluable insights into our past and guiding us toward a more informed and thoughtful future.
My work is a celebration of the planet and its myriad inhabitants, both past and present. It is my hope that through my photographs, viewers will feel a deeper connection to the world and be inspired to take an active role in preserving it for generations to come. By honoring the past and caring for the present, we can create a future where all can thrive.
